Master Planning & Conceptual Design

BHC Architects provides master planning and conceptual design services that often begin at the zoning and policy level and continue through project implementation. Our planning work addresses land use, density, circulation, infrastructure, and phasing within real regulatory and market conditions, with an emphasis on plans that can be adopted, entitled, and built.

Our experience includes the preparation of transit-oriented development frameworks and rezonings, including work that supported the establishment of TOD districts in Copiague and Lindenhurst, as well as a comprehensive village-wide rezoning undertaken in collaboration with the Village of Westbury. These efforts required coordination with municipal leadership, planning boards, and technical consultants to align planning objectives with zoning, infrastructure, and long-term development capacity.

In addition to policy-level planning, BHC has completed numerous large-scale master plans and redevelopment studies within Form-Based Code districts, including projects in Wyandanch, Hempstead Village, and Virginia Beach. Our work in these contexts reflects a detailed understanding of form-based regulations and their translation into feasible site plans, building typologies, and implementation strategies.

Across all planning efforts, BHC emphasizes continuity from early feasibility through entitlement and construction, ensuring that planning concepts are grounded in approval realities and capable of supporting successful project delivery.

In addition to the initial studies that encompass the planning of an overall development, BHC Architects also delve into the intricacies of designing specific buildings.

Our team of experts engages in extensive research and consultation to ensure that each architectural project meets the unique requirements and vision of our clients.

With a keen eye for detail, we employ initial conceptual design and architectural sketches to breathe life into the ideas and transform them into tangible plans. We strive to create timeless structures that harmoniously blend functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability.
